ASSISTANT OPERATIONS MANAGER

    THE POSITION

    Responsible for ensuring that the flow of truck traffic throughout the facility remains continuous and steady by actively directing the staff during his/her work shift. The Assistant Operations Manager’s duties also consist of utilizing a company pick-up truck, yard switcher and/or container forklift.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure that safety and security are the primary focus of everyone at 635 Secure Parking
    • Ensure all stored units are secured to the walls within the yard
    • Assist in training of all staff members
    • Issue disciplinary documents and complete written performance evaluations
    • Communicate issues as they arise to the Operations Manager
    • Ensure all drivers, vendors & yard visitors obey 635’s rules and regulations
    • Defuse heated situations that arise from time to time with drivers and/or vendors
    • Assist in the direction and completion of yard projects as needed
    • Complete assigned reports as directed
    • Share in the on-call rotation
    • Supervise Yard Coordinators as well as Security personnel
    • In the absence of the Operations Manager, responsible for resolving customer- related problems as needed

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
    • One to three years experience in trucking/transportation or warehousing
    • Valid New Jersey driver’s license with a clean driving history
    • Strong verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and Word
    • Willingness to work additional hours, including off-hours “call-ins” and some holidays

    Employment is subject to the completion of due-diligence inquiries, including a background check and a pre- employment medical examination incorporating a drug and alcohol screen, which will take place after a conditional offer is made.

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS

    This is a full time position within a 24/7/365 operation. Employee may be assigned to work various shifts including weekends and holidays and may be required to work additional hours.
