DIESEL MECHANIC – SAVANNAH, GA

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on Interport’s vehicles and equipment which include gas and diesel-powered engines, hydraulic, electrical, and air brake systems. This role plays a critical part in the continued success of the company and the safety of its team members.

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure all Interport vehicles and equipment are always kept to company standards
    • Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services, inspections, and repairs according to the M&R Department’s vehicle and equipment service schedule.
    • Rebuild/replace engines, transmissions, or rear ends as needed or scheduled following ASE best practices
    • Act as the liaison between Interport and its M&R vendors for all assigned, outside vehicle and equipment repair or PM services
    • Assign outside repairs or PM services to the appropriate vendor when necessary
    • Ensure all repairs are completed correctly, in a timely and efficient manner
    • Maintain all service-related documents to ensure the accuracy of the quarterly and annual M&R reports
    • Keep M&R Shop neat, organized and safe at all times
    • Complete special projects as required
    • Remain cross-trained in the various areas of Secure Parking operation.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Graduate of Tech School for Diesel Mechanics (or equivalent y experience working with class 8 trucks)
    • 3+ Years’ experience in a class 8 diesel repair shop
    • ASE Certification in Diesel Mechanics
    • Hydraulic experience is a plus
    • Mechanic with tools preferred
    • Trucking-related experience preferred
    • Valid Georgia driver’s license with a clean driving history
    • Strong verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to perform intermediate-level computer tasks with a strong emphasis on Microsoft Outlook and Excel
    • Willingness to work additional hours, including off-hours “call-ins” and some holidays

    Employment is subject to the completion of due-diligence inquiries, including a background check and a pre-employment medical examination including a drug and alcohol screen, which will take place after a conditional offer is made.
