DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES

THE POSITION
The Director of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for providing strategic HR direction, leadership, and operational support of Interport’s business and growth objectives. In an “HR department of one”, this position oversees strategy and delivery in all areas of HR, including talent life-cycle management; organizational design, learning, and development; workforce planning; employee benefits and wellness; internal communications; compensation, rewards, and recognition; HR systems and payroll; vendor management; and legal compliance. The Director of HR reports to Interport’s CFO/COO.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with business leadership to ensure HR strategy is aligned with business objectives
- Initiate and continuously improve plans for staffing, compensation, and benefits
- Recruit, select, orient, on-board, train, coach, and counsel high-performing teams and individuals
- As an agent of change, nurture a culture that enables and enhances employees’ performance
- Process weekly payroll through the company’s HRIS platform, Zenefits
- Define and oversee talent and workforce strategies (e.g. programs in performance management, talent assessment, risk management, and employee relations)
- Build and foster partnerships with Interport’s leaders to execute on the company’s plans and to ensure effective evaluating, securing, and on-boarding of key talent
- Develop and/or facilitate ongoing management, compliance, and safety trainings
- Monitor employee engagement using best-practice methodologies, e.g. engagement surveys, communication vehicles, training & development, rewards & recognition, teambuilding,
- Develop, document, implement, and support Interport’s policies and procedures and update employee handbook as needed
- Define appropriate HR metrics and monitor performance against those metrics
- Advise on HR issues related to discipline, disputes, and dismissals; coordinate and conduct exit interviews
- Manage the HR budget and oversee HR recordkeeping and documentation
- Keep abreast of labor, legislative, and other HR issues to ensure legal and regulatory compliance
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Highest moral character and integrity
- Discretion, judgment, and maturity to maintain confidentiality of HR-related information
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, business, or related field
- 10+ years’ experience in HR, with progressively increasing management responsibilities
- Exceptional speaking, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to customized, innovative people practices
- Business acumen with the ability to effectively perform and advise at the management level
- Effectiveness working with all levels of personnel; aversion to politics, policing, or establishing roadblocks
- Strong drive to create results with discipline, follow-through, and focus
- Interpersonal sensitivity; emotional intelligence; personal warmth; and sense of humor, humility, and humanity
- Ability to track, manage, and complete multiple projects with a minimum of supervision or support
- Aptitude in relationship-building and working with various internal and external stakeholders
- Commitment to training, professional development, and continuous improvement
Employment is subject to the completion of due-diligence inquiries, including a background check and a pre-employment medical examination incorporating a drug and alcohol screen, which will take place after a conditional offer is made.

PREFERRED/PLUS
- Master’s degree in HR, business, or related field
- HRCI and/or SHRM certifications
- Demonstrated experience working with HRIS platforms (Zenefits experience a plus)
- Experience in the industrial/manufacturing field a plus
- Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time exempt position that will require being on the road making personal sales calls at customer sites on a regular basis. Hours of work will vary based on company meetings, customer business development, and sales visits.
